Role Summary
The Court Liaison Officer plays a vital role in supporting the Local Court Magistrate by diverting defendants with mental illnesses into community-based services.
* Must possess postgraduate qualifications in mental health or a related field to effectively address complex cases.
* A current NSW Driver's Licence is required for safe transportation of individuals and staff.
A Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 must hold a current practising certificate as a Registered Nurse and demonstrate at least five years' full-time equivalent experience working in an acute mental health setting.
An Occupational Therapist Level 4 requires general registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, recognised qualifications, and a minimum of five years' full-time equivalent experience working in an acute mental health environment.
Psychologists and Accredited Counsellors must have a minimum four-year accredited psychology degree, general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, or complete a four-year full-time sequence of study via pathway A or B.
A Social Worker Level 4 must have a Bachelor's degree in social work providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, plus at least five years' full-time equivalent post-registration clinical experience and three years' full-time equivalent in an acute mental health setting.
The Statewide Community and Court Liaison Service offers comprehensive mental health support in local courts across NSW, conducting evaluations and suggesting treatment options to magistrates.
