Open Pit Mine Geologist
Meeka Metals operates Western Australia's newest gold mine and requires an Open Pit Geologist responsible for mine geology at the Murchison Gold Project.
Reporting to the Geology Superintendent you will be responsible for open pit mine geology, grade control and exploration drilling. This will be an independent role with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility. The role being offered is permeant full time. Geologists with greater than one-year open pit experience are encouraged to apply.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Assist with the geological aspect of project expansion, development of procedures etc.
* Open pit mine geology including ore block design, blast movement block adjustment, ore markup and the assisting technical team with the efficient mining of the pit.
* Daily tracking and validation of ore and waste movements.
* Attendance of daily PSI and planning meetings. Strong organisations and communication skills.
* Input into weekly scheduling and planning for geological in-pit activities.
* In pit geological mapping.
* Grade control and exploration drilling as well as geological interpretation for future open pits.
* Geological logging of both RC chips and diamond core
* Reconciliation, wall mapping and QAQC activities.
Required skills and experience:
* Tertiary qualification in Geology.
* Preferably at least one years' experience as an Open Pit Mine Geologist.
* Surpac, Leapfrog, Logchief experience or similar.
* Experience in the Microsoft Office suite of software.
* Experience with ore transformations.
* Ability to check and validate data to a high standard.
* Developed numeracy, written and verbal communication skills.
* Proactive attitude and a willingness to develop knowledge.
* Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills essential.
* Ability to work with a team harmoniously.
* Always actively participate in continuous improvement.
* Always actively participate in the strong safety culture at Meeka Metals
* Display sound judgement and problem-solving abilities.
* The ability to work independently and unsupervised.
* Current police clearance
* Current unencumbered C Western Australian Drivers Licence.
