With a focus on consistency and customer satisfaction, the company is looking to engage a skilled Chef to support its ongoing operations and menu development.
About the Position
As a Chef, you will play a key role in preparing and presenting high-quality dishes in line with the business’s menu and standards, contributing to a consistent dining experience for customers.
Your duties and responsibilities are not limited to:
· Planning menus and contributing to the development of seasonal and specialty dishes, including estimating food and labour costs and managing ingredient orders to support smooth kitchen operations.
· Preparing and cooking high-quality food in line with the business standards, ensuring consistency in flavour, portioning, and presentation.
· Monitoring and maintaining food quality throughout all stages of preparation and service to ensure customer satisfaction.
· Assisting the kitchen team in daily operations, including coordinating workflow, supporting service efficiency, and ensuring clear communication between kitchen and front-of-house staff.
· Supporting staff training by demonstrating cooking techniques, sharing knowledge on food preparation methods, and assisting junior staff and apprentices where required.
· Maintaining strict compliance with workplace health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including safe food handling, storage, and cleanliness of all kitchen areas.
· Working efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and high-quality output during busy service periods.
· Assisting with stock control, including receiving deliveries, rotating stock, and ensuring proper storage and preservation of food items to minimise waste and maintain quality.
· Preparing ingredients in advance, including cutting, marinating, and portioning, to ensure efficient service during peak periods.
· Maintaining kitchen equipment and ensuring proper use and cleanliness of all tools and machinery.
· Assisting in monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages or quality issues to ensure uninterrupted kitchen operations.
· Adapting to changing menu requirements and special customer requests while maintaining consistency and quality.
· Contributing to a positive and collaborative kitchen environment by working effectively as part of a team.
Requirements
· Minimum 1 years of experience working in a fast-paced and high volume kitchen.
· Certificate IV or higher in Commercial Cookery
· A good team player with leadership skills.
· Ability to work under pressure while maintaining the volume and delivery of quality of dishes.
· Knowledge in WHS Compliance and strong understanding of food safety and practices
· A high standard of food preparation, presentation and service
· A passion for food and an eagerness to learn and develop culinary skills
· Excellent time management skills, strong communication skills and collaborative work mentality
· A lively personality and positive attitude
