Job Overview:
We are seeking a visionary optics engineer to spearhead the design and development of cutting-edge electro-optical systems.
* Main Responsibilities:
o Lead the creation of comprehensive Electro-Optical Design Studies, encompassing architecture definition, technology trade-offs, and performance evaluation.
o Determine high-level system requirements and decompose them into subsystem specifications.
o Develop predictive models and simulations to assess system performance in operational environments.
o Evaluate technologies and propose suitable solutions across optics, sensors, electronics, and mechanics.
o Collaborate with subject matter experts to integrate specialist knowledge into the system design.
o Present and lead design reviews, technical documentation, and compliance assessments.
o Support supplier selection, integration planning, and system validation in lab settings.
o Contribute to risk analysis, cost estimation, and planning activities for future production.
* Key Qualifications:
o Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
o Hold a baseline security clearance upon employment commencement and be able to obtain NV1.
o 5+ years of experience in the design and development of optronic or electro-optical systems.
o Demonstrated ability to lead technical design activities and manage system-level integration challenges.
o Strong understanding of optical system design, focal plane arrays (e.g., MWIR, SWIR, LWIR), sensor electronics, image processing, and real-time systems.
o Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools.
o Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams and with international partners.
o Strong technical communication and documentation skills.
o Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to effectively engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
o Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
o Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
* Desirable Attributes:
o Experience in the defense, aerospace, or space sectors.
o Exposure to system development under regulatory or military standards.
o Knowledge of stabilization technologies, servo control, or embedded real-time architectures.
o Experience managing technology maturation and transition from study to prototype.
