Navantia Australia has been awarded the Designer Support Contract to provide comprehensive design and engineering support to all Navantia-designed ships in service with the Royal Australian Navy. This landmark contract marks a significant milestone for Navantia Australia, as it is the company's first contract held directly with the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA), underscoring its commitment to innovation and excellence in the maritime industry.
Operating under the Design Support Contract (DSC), we have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join the team at the Darling Park, Sydney Office. In the role you will oversee the DSC program financials and cost collection including invoicing, accounts receivable and finance workbook upkeep. This role involves program budget management and reporting including Contract Status Review (CSR) and Combined Services Summary Report (CSSR). The manager will also be responsible for managing budgets, timelines, and resources, as well as mentoring and training a small team of Cost Controllers. The role maintains a reporting line to the Chief Finance Officer to ensure appropriate financial governance and integration with the corporate finance operations.
Your responsibilities
Lead a small team of Cost Controllers, promoting a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
Develop financial models to support strategic planning and decision‐making processes.
Internal and external stakeholder engagement with the Commonwealth.
Take part in internal and external audits.
Prepare detailed annual financial budgets and monthly financial forecasts.
Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
Monitor and track financial performance/cash‐flow and analyze variances.
Assist in the preparation of presentation materials for the DSC Program and executive leadership and board of directors.
Develop and implement cost‐saving measures and efficiency strategies.
Ensure invoicing is accurate and delivered on time to maintain a healthy cash flow in the program.
Participate in cross‐functional projects and assist other finance teams as required.
Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and industry best practices.
Provide guidance to team members and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Assist in adhoc projects when required.
As the ideal candidate, you will have
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience in the Defence industry.
Proven experience in financial management of a large program.
Strong knowledge of financial principles and practices.
Excellent project management skills.
Ability to work independently and communicate with stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage self (time, conduct).
Advanced level experience and experience in Excel and SAP.
Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision‐making skills.
Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high‐pressure environment.
