About the position
The Tourism Development Officer is responsible for developing and promoting tourism initiatives to increase visitation, generate economic activity, support events and enhance the communities lifestyle.
The position is responsible for the day to day operation of the Visitor Information Centres and engaging with a range of stakeholders including operators, tourism bodies and government to enhance the visitor experience, within a regional context, whilst ensuring continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Collect visitor data and undertake tourism research and analysis to inform stakeholders of industry trends and product development opportunities
* Manage marketing and promotional campaigns to attract visitors including overseeing the use of branding, digital media platforms and ongoing content creation
* Manage the Shires Visitor information's centres and visitor experience whilst engaging with other Visitor Information Centres and providers to promote the region
* Assist the Coordinator Tourism and Events to deliver actions identified in the Destination Management Plan and other Council Strategies to improve visitors experience and encourage repeat and extended visitation
* Promote local products and experiences including the development of itineraries and booking platforms

About you
* Tertiary qualifications in Tourism or Business Management (Certificate IV minimal qualifications), or equivalent qualification and 5 years of equivalent experience
* Substantial tourism industry knowledge and demonstrated experience working with operators to implement tourism strategies
* Proven ability to collect, analyse information and prepare reports and presentations to inform sound decision making
* Experience providing high level customer service and effectively dealing with conflict
* A current NSW Drivers Licence

* Salary from $80,667 to $104,394 per year (depending on qualifications, skills and experience) plus 12% superannuation
