An opportunity for an experienced Production Manager to join a specialist manufacturer of metal components used in agricultural machinery. The company maintains strong export capabilities and has established partnerships with distributors and service providers across multiple continents. Their products are trusted by equipment manufacturers and agricultural operators around the world and are known for enhancing productivity and reducing downtime.
The Production Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the production operations at the Carole Park site. This includes overseeing manufacturing processes, ensuring quality and safety standards, driving operational efficiency, managing team performance, and delivering production outcomes in line with business targets. The role directly manages a team of approximately 25 people, including production workers and maintenance fitters. It is pivotal in ensuring that plant, processes, people and equipment are utilised and maintained to their optimal efficiency to support timely and consistent delivery of customer orders as scheduled by the manufacturing resource planning (MRP) system.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, schedule and coordinate production activities to meet quality, cost and delivery key performance targets.
* Monitor workflow, resource utilisation, and production output.
* Ensure adherence to manufacturing standards, methods, and specifications.
* Lead and supervise approximately 25 production team members, including team leaders, machine operators, and maintenance fitters.
* Champion a proactive safety culture and environmental responsibility across all shifts.
* Work with procurement, planning and logistics to ensure timely availability of materials.
* Implement and drive lean manufacturing initiatives and 5S practices.
* Build and develop a flexible, high-performing team aligned to our company values and vision.
* Drive strong communication and accountability across all levels of the production team.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Proven experience as a Production Manager (or equivalent) in a fast-paced, process-driven heavy engineering and/or metal fabrication manufacturing environment.
* Strong people leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate a team.
* Deep knowledge of safety systems, quality standards, and continuous improvement tools (Lean, CI, etc.).
* Mechanical or Electrical trade/tertiary qualifications preferred.
* Key competencies – change management, problem solving, effective communicator and collaborator, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
* Proficient in ERP systems and production planning tools
