The Women's Hospital offers a range of career opportunities for graduate midwives to develop their skills and expertise in maternity care.
Our Graduate Midwife Program provides a supportive and collaborative environment for graduates to work alongside experienced midwives and learn from them.
As a graduate midwife, you will have the opportunity to work in various settings, including our postnatal ward, birth centre, and complex antenatal ward. You will be responsible for providing individualized patient-centred care, communicating effectively with the multidisciplinary team, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to identify patient care options and plans.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing individualized patient-centred care, including recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms.
* Communicating patient assessments and care plans effectively to the midwife in charge, the medical team, and relevant members of the multidisciplinary team.
* Collaborating with members of the team to identify patient care options and plans.
* Appropriately assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and contemporaneously documenting nursing and midwifery care.
Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
* Eligibility for registration with AHPRA by February or May 2026.
* A current Working with Children Check.
* Eligibility to register with the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) Allocation and Placement Service (APS).
* Agreement to care for women seeking a termination of pregnancy and administer medicine in this process.
