Rothsay Gold Mine is a high-grade, narrow vein, underground gold mine located approximately 300 km north-northeast of Perth and 85km southeast of Vault Minerals’ Deflector Operations. Rothsay commenced underground mining in late 2020 and comprises two declines, with ore being mined via long-hole stoping methods using custom-made small-scale equipment.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, the Mine Surveyor will be responsible for delivering all site survey requirements for both the underground and surface aspects of the operation, using Leica Total station equipment as well as surface and underground drones. You will collaborate closely with our experienced Mine Survey team at the busy Rothsay operation.
This position will be offered as a FIFO Job shared arrangement on a part-time 8:20 roster. It is a FIFO role flying out of Jandakot (which includes free parking) or DIDO from Geraldton and surrounding areas. There is scope for a lot of flexibility in this role, so if your circumstances require a flexible part time role, this is the one for you.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Maintain accurate survey control of underground workings and surface infrastructure
- Carry out detailed surveys for end-of-month reporting
- Effective use and maintenance of Leica Total Station and GPS equipment
- Conduct surface and underground drone survey work using a DJI M200 and Elios 3 Drone and associated processing software, including Pix4D and Inspector.
- Installation of necessary survey control for directional control of mining
- Produce a high standard of mining instructions and plans
- Carry out CMS surveys of underground stopes
- Generate accurate survey data and effectively communicate information to the technical team in a timely manner
- Ensure Emergency Plans are up to date and easily accessible
- Maintain mining physicals statistics.
About You
- Possess relevant tertiary qualifications in Mine Surveying, complemented by proven experience in underground mine surveying.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mine Surveying
- Demonstrated underground mine survey experience
- Working knowledge of Deswik software
- Remote Pilot Licence highly regarded
- Experience working with Leica Total Station equipment is preferred
- High degree of self-motivation with the ability to plan and priorities multiple tasks
- A professional attitude and the ability to work as part of a team or autonomously
- High attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
- Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills.
