Position Overview
Are you a motivated Accountant looking for an impactful role? Join ECKA, where you will work as part of our finance team, ensuring accuracy in accounting and reporting. Your role is crucial in supporting our purpose-driven work, maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with organisational policies, accounting standards, and external regulations.
While we are looking for a minimum of 24 hours per week, we are flexible on the hours and days and will co-design the working arrangements for the right person. New graduates will also be considered on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
* Financial Operations and Reporting: General ledger processing and monthly reconciliation. Overseeing accurate processing of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Allocation of funding received. Maintain system integrations.
* Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with government funding agreements, including expenditure, record-keeping, and acquittal requirements. Support annual financial audit and manage BAS.
* System and Process Improvement: Support and recommend improvements for financial systems and procedures.
* Fixed Assets and Investments: Manage the fixed asset reporting system, including monthly depreciation calculations and monitoring capital item allocations. Conduct periodic stocktakes of fixed assets. Process and report investment valuations and returns.
* Cash Flow and Budgeting: Assist Finance Manager with annual budget development and periodic forecasting.
Position Requirements
* Education: Bachelor of Business (Accounting), or related discipline. Hold or working towards an accounting qualification, CPA or CA
* Experience: At least 2 years of experience as an Accountant in a similar role preferred. Graduates will be considered.
* Skills and Competencies:
o Financial and Accounting Expertise: Strong knowledge of financial and accounting principles applicable to the Not-for-Profit sector.
o Finance Software Proficiency: Proficiency with Xero and advanced skills in Excel.
o Taxation Knowledge: Experience managing GST and other tax-related matters pertinent to not-for-profit organisations.
o Interpersonal skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with staff and professionals.
o Team collaboration: Ability to work cooperatively, flexibly, and professionally with staff, other professionals, and ECKA Management.
