As a vital player in Australia's supply chain, our company is growing fast—and we're looking for a sharp, driven Business Development Manager to help us take our impact to the next level.
About the Role
You will play a lead role in the hunt for new opportunities, building a pipeline that delivers on key annual revenue targets each year. Armed with cutting-edge market insights, you'll lead the charge in identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and driving growth in one of Australia's most essential industries.
This role is open to any Tasmanian locals living in proximity to one of our sites in Hobart, Launceston, Burnie or Devonport.
What you'll do
- Prospect strategically:Stay ahead of industry trends and competitor moves to uncover fresh logo opportunities aligned with our growth plans.
- Collaborate to innovate:Working closely with other key internal stakeholders to align goals and deliver exceptional customer value.
- Pitch with impact:Lead engaging presentations and solution design that simplify complex logistics challenges for executive decision-makers.
- Negotiate and close:Secure new contracts and partnerships that drive profitable volume, ensuring handovers to Account Management run smoothly.
- Maintain pipeline health:Leverage CRM software to keep forecasts accurate, report progress in real time and hit your annual target.
- Business relationship cultivation and nurturing: Drive strategic collaboration to improve growth, client satisfaction and strengthen Strait Link's positions as a trusted logistics partner.
Desired Skills and Experience
We're looking for someone who
- Thrives on new business development - the more uncharted, the better.
- Balances strategic thinking with hands-on execution, always refining their approach.
- Has a strong background in sales, business development, or key account management—ideally in logistics, supply chain, or B2B services
- Builds instant credibility with all audiences through clear, consultative communication.
- Partners seamlessly across functions to deliver win-win outcomes.
- Is motivated by data, tracking key metrics to optimise every stage of the sales cycle, with a passion for a quality final result
- Comes with 3–5 years' success in field-based business development or new-logo sales, with set annual targets.
- Demonstrates proven ability to generate and convert a healthy pipeline (25 %+ conversion, 3× coverage)
- Has Advanced proficiency in Salesforce (or similar CRM) and sales analytics tools
