You'll partner with teachers and leaders to build capability, lead professional learning, and drive evidence-based practices that strengthen language development, wellbeing, and student success. Description POSITION DESCRIPTION The role, Education Officer: English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) aims to: support schools, classroom teachers and curriculum leaders to develop and effectively implement responses to support the curriculum learning needs of all EAL/D students. n the EAL/D Education Officer mentors, monitors and actively engages in the English language development, academic performance and wellbeing of schools supporting each EAL/D student. n support schools to create a positive and engaging learning environment, and professional practice informed by contemporary pedagogical EAL/D research. n supports EAL/D teachers to gather, collate and share student linguistic profiles, and use the EAL/D Learning Progression in conjunction with the ESL Scales and NSW syllabus documents to inform their practice – planning, creating and delivering effective and meaningful English language learning activities according to these documents. n deliver professional learning for schools and EAL/D teaching staff as required The Education Officer: English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) is responsible to the Director of Schools through the Head of Student Learning and Support. n All Education n Officers will be supported with ongoing professional learning and networking opportunities to improve their knowledge and professional capacity. n Professional n Practice and Development processes for the role of Education Officer: English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) will be established in consultation with the Head of Student Learning and Support. These will include feedback mechanisms from the Head of Department and relevant CS staff. n Experience/Criteria Skills and Experiences: Ability to articulate a transparent understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools. n Extensive experience in current, evidence based English language learning pedagogy and practice, and ability to communicate this to schools. n Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education. n Proven capacity to understand and empathise with students from non-English speaking and refugee backgrounds and their families. n Demonstrated capacity to build relationships, work collaboratively and respectfully within a team environment and with key stakeholders. n Extensive experience in the ability to effectively utilise data to optimise educational outcomes. n Proven ability to teach in a range of modes (Direct, Collaborative or Resource Teaching) in response to the needs of the students. n Possess a comprehensive understanding of curriculum compliance and NESA requirements. n Sound knowledge of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers or the EAL/D Elaborations and willingness to seek qualified learning opportunities that maximise EAL/D student learning outcomes. n High level skills and extensive experience in delivering professional learning with the capacity to provide system leadership in schools. n Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, organisational, communication and information technology skills. n QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications as a four-year trained teacher n Postgraduate TESOL qualifications or a commitment to undertake n Current NESA Accreditation n Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary is in accordance with Recent South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
