Front Desk Reception & Guest Services (Casual)
Mercure Charlestown is looking for someone to join our small Front Desk team.
The successful applicant will be available to work predominantly afternoon shift (2:30pm to 10pm) and be available to work weekends and public holidays.
Employment will be casual and 2 shifts (16hrs) per week plus additional hours as holiday cover for other team members.
***This role may also offer permanent part-time (PPT) employment for the right person and additional weekly hours may be available in our F&B team for a candidate looking for more hours and with the appropriate experience for bar and waitstaff work***
Key responsibilities & duties
Providing exceptional customer service by responding to guest requests promptly, efficiently and courteously during check-in, check-out and throughout their stay.
Effective coordination and supervision of all guest arrival and departure procedures to achieve a reputation as a market leader in the industry and deliver a truly memorable experience for our guests.
Functions, meetings and events coordination including reservations, planning and facilitation.
Promoting and up-selling hotel facilities and services through strong product & service knowledge.
Maintaining a high level of professionalism whilst ensuring procedures are followed in relation to guest confidentiality and the issuing of room keys.
Maintaining procedures in relation to credit and cash transactions and accounting documentation.
Planning and review of projected occupancy including liaising with the Hotel Manager on revenue management, pre-arrival phone calls to guests and general guest relations.
Effectively communicating with all departments of the hotel to ensure customer satisfaction is consistently achieved.
Working with the General Manager & Hotel Manager on all aspects of revenue management.
Ensuring safety, security and legislative requirements are being met.
Working with our Food & Beverage team including, where needed, provide restaurant and bar service to our guests.
Applicants must have:
Previous (preferably 3+ years) experience in a similar role.
Authentic customer service, interpersonal & communication skills & be flexible in your approach.
Impeccable grooming and presentation.
Excellent organisation and time management.
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite of products.
Experience with a Property Management System (PMS) and preferably Opera Cloud.
Available to work weekdays and weekends including public holidays.
Must have unrestricted eligibility to work in Australia.
Hold a valid and current NSW drivers licence.
Hold a valid and current RSA certificate.
Experience in mixing drinks and making barista coffee.
