We are an independent, subscription-based news publisher looking for bright and curious journalists interested in legal reporting for a sophisticated readership of judges, barristers, solicitors and government officials.
The reporter role at Lawyerly presents an opportunity for journalists who enjoy the drama of courts, or lawyers looking for a career change that will provide them all the excitement of the law without the drudgery and long hours.
Our reporters cover high stakes cases and class actions in the busiest courts in Australia, in a comprehensive, in-depth fashion. All our reporting is original and we are often the first to break important developments in litigation. We pride ourselves on our balanced, objective and insightful coverage of legal news.
Reporters watch court hearings and write two to three news stories a day. The job offers the flexibility of working from court or home, plus a friendly and collegial environment. Lawyerly encourages a collaborative approach, and provides a great platform to work on the craft of writing, as well as the skills of reporting.
Work/life balance is important to us. Reporters are not required to work weekends or public holidays and overtime is
rare, but opportunities for advancement abound.
We are looking for people with an interest in the conflict of courtroom battles, and the smarts to comprehend the complexities; people who love telling great stories and getting paid to do it
Annual salary increases can be expected, as well as an end-of-year bonus.
