About the role
We are seeking a Software Test Lead to oversee the strategic planning, delivery, and evaluation of software testing programs that ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our applications. This role leads the development of detailed test plans, manages complex testing activities, and collaborates with stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes. The Test Lead also provides expert consultancy, manages test environments, and drives continuous improvement in testing practices.
The Software Test Lead supports the delivery of software projects by executing test cases, managing test data, tracking defects, and using testing tools to enhance productivity. This role plays a key part in ensuring software meets quality standards and contributes to the ongoing improvement of testing methodologies.
Key role responsibilities:
* Lead planning and execution of testing strategies across projects
* Manage test environments and data requirements
* Collaborate with stakeholders to define and meet quality goals
* Provide expert guidance on testing tools and methodologies
* Drive continuous improvement in testing processes and outcomes
* Execute manual and automated test cases
* Identify, log, and track software defects
* Perform functional, regression, and integration testing
* Document test results and provide feedback
* Support process improvements and tool usage

Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid DHS Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).

* Some out of hours work will be required.
* Some intra/interstate travel and overnight absences may be required.
* Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Development Program.
