Biotext is looking for an early career writer and editor with a health science background to join our expert team. Biotext turns complex information into effective content. We partner with our clients on their scientific, technical or complex content to develop products such as fact sheets, reports, guidelines and websites.
Role responsibilities
Your main duties will be writing, substantive editing, copyediting and proofreading, as well as attending technical committee meetings and writing meeting summaries.
You may also be involved in content strategy and content design.
You'll also manage projects and communicate with clients to solve problems and identify opportunities.
You'll work on a variety of projects and tasks, and be supported by our detailed procedures to ensure quality and consistency.
Our team of specialists will work closely with you to help build your skills.
Hours: 0.8 to full time (flexible working hours available)
Salary: $80,000–$95,000; negotiable based on qualifications, experience and skills
Location: Canberra (preferred), but we may consider other locations within Australia for the right person
About you
If you see yourself as a health writer, science writer, medical writer, technical writer, health editor or science editor, this opportunity might be for you.
You will have tertiary qualifications in health, biomedical science or health-related science. This is an essential criterion for this role.

You may have experience in:
writing and editing scientific, technical or complex content for a variety of audiences
explaining complex concepts in plain language
following writing and editing standards using a style guide
using Microsoft Word at an advanced level
managing projects from start to finish
working in small teams
developing and maintaining working relationships with colleagues, collaborators and clients.
This might not be for you if you specialise in marketing – the role does not include developing brand and marketing content, or writing content for social media.
