About The Role
We are seeking an experienced State Manager to lead sales, operations, and customer service performance across the state. This hands‐on role combines day‐to‐day new business development with strategic leadership, managing a small team of 3 to deliver revenue, profitability, and service targets.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
* Develop and execute state‐level sales strategies aligned with company objectives.
* Lead, coach, and motivate the sales team to achieve revenue and margin targets.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
* Identify new business opportunities and drive market share growth.
Operational Management
* Oversee warehouse and distribution operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with safety standards.
* Implement best practices in inventory management, order fulfilment, and logistics.
* Monitor operational KPIs and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Leadership & People Management
* Provide clear direction and leadership to teams across sales and operations.
* Foster a high‐performance culture built on accountability, collaboration, and customer satisfaction.
* Manage workforce planning, recruitment, and staff development to support business growth.
Financial & Reporting
* Work closely with the Group Sales Manager and Group Commercial Manager on state budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting.
* Monitor financial performance and take corrective action where required.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
* Minimum 3+ years in a leadership role with combined sales and operational responsibilities.
* Proven sales leadership experience, ideally within building products, trade, or related industries.
* Strong understanding of warehouse and distribution operations.
* Demonstrated ability to lead multi‐functional teams and deliver results.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong commercial acumen, including budgeting and financial management experience.
