Full-time permanent Ongoing positionDCS Clerk Grade 11/12 ($145,378 – $168,130 base salary + Super and annual leave loadingSydney - flexible working arrangements availableAbout the rolebuy NSW is seeking an experienced, Principal Service Designer with a background in procurement systems to join our dynamic team.Primary purpose:As the Principal Service Designer, you will lead the design of user experiences for the buy NSW platform, making sure it meets the needs of public sector agencies, their suppliers, external customers, and aligns with procurement policies and processes.You’ll work closely with the Delivery Manager and Program Director across all activities—from day-to-day improvements to delivering key government priorities such as the implementation of NSW Government’s opportunities mandate and recently announced initiatives supporting local and small business.Key accountabilities include:· Helping to bring the project vision to life by coming up with ideas, designing, and testing easy-to-use experiences that are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.· Building a strong understanding of customer needs and using data to design solutions that focus on the user, especially for complex problems.· Improving designs and experiences by testing regularly with customers and using tools to track and evaluate progress.· Making sure buy NSW is accessible to everyone by following best practices and recognised industry guidelines.· Managing relationships with stakeholders by communicating clearly, negotiating effectively, and solving any issues to keep everyone engaged and ensuring project goals are met.About youThis role is ideal for someone who is hands-on and enjoys working in complex, evolving environment. To be successful you will:· Have a strong ability to understand and relate to NSW Government procurement and supplier needs, pain points, and perspectives to create user-centred designs.· Be a team player who thrives in working with cross-sector, cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve common goals and deliver successful outcomes.· Be creative and analytical, with a knack for tackling complex challenges and finding effective solutions that meet user and business needs particularly in a procurement context.· Be comfortable with change and able to adjust quickly to new information, feedback, and evolving project requirements, especially in agile environments.· Pay close attention to details, ensuring the final product is refined, well-executed, and meets both user needs and quality standards.· Be clear and concise in communicating ideas, designs, and progress to various stakeholders, ensuring everyone is aligned and informed.· Always puts the user first, with a strong commitment to creating experiences that are easy, intuitive, and enjoyable for the end user.· Capable of managing multiple tasks, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations while keeping projects on track.Familiarity with buy NSW and procurement processes, frameworks and best practices would be an advantage.About buy NSW:buy NSW is the New South Wales Government’s digital procurement platform, designed to streamline and modernise the procurement process for NSW Government buyers, suppliers and procurement professionals.
