Raytheon Australia is a trusted capability partner delivering complex, innovative, and meaningful engineering projects for the Australian Defence Force. As a Lead Engineer - Mechanical, you will liaise with stakeholders, conduct engineering assessments, and review and support the approval of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs). You will apply advanced technical theories and methodologies to provide innovative solutions while considering cost and schedule constraints.
You will have the opportunity to learn, share knowledge, and be mentored on Engineering methodology and processes. Supported by the Engineering Manager, you will be enrolled in our national Engineering network. Your role involves direct engagement with peers, Australian Defence Force personnel, capability partners, sub-contractors and suppliers, within a friendly team to meet the needs of our customer—the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).
Key Responsibilities
* As the technical interface between the customer, management and the implementation team, conduct systems analysis to derive function, performance and interface requirements to meet electrical safety parameters.
* Engage with System Design activities (including trade studies) to ensure that the mechanical design artefacts are compatible with the baselined product; consistent across all subsystems, delivering system design to meet performance requirements.
* Perform technical risk analysis as required to support development and review of hazard logs, safety case arguments and risk mitigation actions.
* Ensure assigned mechanical components are developed and implemented according to appropriate standards and procedures.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to secure Raytheon's reputation as a trusted partner in delivering systems integration and mission support solutions.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Tertiary Qualification in mechanical, mechatronics or structural engineering; minimum tertiary qualification with professional development to attain recognition as CPEng with Engineers Australia in a relevant stream, including ability to attain RPEQ recognition.
* Experience in an engineering discipline including Requirements Definition, Management, Analysis, Design and Verification and Validation.
* Experience representing engineering professional services to internal and external customers.
* Minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience (with a University Degree).
* Experience with 3D CAD parametric modelling software.
* Experience in mechanical component/sub-system selection and procurement; practical to substantial knowledge of projects, programs, or systems relevant to the business.
* Experience in mechanical design and design changes; product configuration control.
* Experience in Military Standard electrical component/subsystem selection and procurement.
* Familiarity with AS1100 drawing standard.
* This position may require travel when required.
* Eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Eligibility can be found at the Defence Security Clearance page (government site).
