THE ROLE The Dhelk Dja Regional Coordinator, Inner Gippsland is central to supporting the Inner Gippsland Dhelk Dja Action Group in its work toward developing community led initiatives and actions aimed at preventing, reducing and responding to family violence in Aboriginal communities. The Dhelk Dja Regional Coordinator promotes the Dhelk Dja: Safe Our Way – Strong Culture, Strong Peoples, Strong Families, Victoria's Aboriginal 10 Year Family Violence Agreement within local and regional communities, with Aboriginal and mainstream organisations and across government departments. They facilitate and assist in the development of community-based responses to family violence. ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE * * Enhance, strengthen and empower local Aboriginal communities by assisting the Dhelk Dja Action Group to develop a range of strategies and plans to address family violence issues. This will include coordinated planning, networking, community education, advocacy and project development. * Support the Dhelk Dja Action Group to implement strategies and plans and assist delivery within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters. * Provide secretariat support to the Dhelk Dja Action Group meetings by assisting in meeting coordination, venue hire and catering as well as preparing agendas and taking minutes.
