Based at Head Office, Kingston (TAS), the Field & Clothing Systems Coordinator is an important leadership role within the Field Operations team. Leading a small team, this role operates under broad direction of the Assistant Director Field Operations, working on various activities relating to strategic procurement planning, inventory management and delivery of field equipment and clothing in support of the Australian Antarctic Program (AAP). This position participates in the coordination of inventory management, procurement of field equipment and clothing, head office and station-based stock take activities, expeditioner clothing template governance and electronic consignment of cargo. Field operations environment is a dynamic environment which requires a flexible and agile approach to the manner in which daily functions are prioritised. This position plays a key role in ensuring the delivery of safe field operations across the AAP.

**Who we are**
The Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) is part of the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. As primary agency for Australia's Antarctic Program (AAP), the AAD is responsible for achieving the Australian Government's Antarctic goals.
These goals are to:

- maintain the Antarctic Treaty System and enhance Australia's influence within it
- protect the Antarctic environment
- understand the role of Antarctica in the global climate system
- undertake scientific work of practical, economic and national significance.

The AAD also has responsibility for administering the Australian Antarctic Territory and the Territory of Heard Island and McDonald Islands.

Operations & Logistics plan, coordinate, facilitate and deliver operations for the AAP. We protect the health, safety and well-being of expeditioners. We enable the resupply and sustainment of our stations, move personnel and support science while building operational capability to deliver future Antarctic projects.

The Station & Field Operations Section is responsible for coordinating and providing operational support for science and other designated projects and programs. The section oversees leadership, management and sustainment of Australia's four Antarctic and sub-Antarctic stations; coordination and support of field activities including deep field capability; provision of clothing and kitting for all expeditioners; and implementation of a modern traverse capability and inland station operations.

**The Job**
Key duties include, but are not limited to:

- Provide leadership and mentoring to the clothing and field store teams.
- Manage external contract and service delivery stakeholder relationships.
- Lead governance of the AAP Clothing Committee, including stakeholder representation, change management, agendas and secretariat support.
- Manage equipment and clothing template review cycles, and related stakeholder discussions.
- Manage periodic clothing store and field store stocktake activities
- Provide strategic advice to the Station & Field Operations management team with regards to clothing and field equipment related matters.
- Provide guidance to forecasting activities which lead to effective and efficient procurement and on-site/in-program inventory management.
- Provide regular updates to the Field Operations Manager to inform financial decision making and financial control.
- Provide a point of liaison to technical representatives and coordinate the delivery of fit-for-purpose survival and protective clothing to expeditioners.
- Undertake liaison functions with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of services to the AAP.
- Provide broad support to the Station & Field Operations section as required.

The successful applicant must:

- hold and maintain a valid Australian motor vehicle drivers licence.
- wear appropriate protective personal equipment and clothing to comply with departmental Work Health & Safety policies and procedures.

**Knowledge and experience**
Required:

- Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and prioritise work in a rapidly evolving operational environment.
- Proven ability to communicate, liaise and maintain relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience undertaking research and analysis, and using the data generated to inform decision making.
- Demonstrated understanding of compliance and best practices related to outdoor survival clothing/equipment and personal protection equipment.
- Experience in the development and management of inventory management systems, including synchronisation of systems that support procurement, storage and issuance/return practices.
- Experience working in a fast-paced team environment including the planning and implementation of operational projects and activities.
