Aboriginal Health Worker – AMIHS, HealthOne Quirindi
Located in the heart of the scenic Liverpool Plains, Quirindi—known as the ‘nest in the hills’—offers a welcoming community, beautiful rolling pastures, and vibrant sunflower fields. Just under an hour from Tamworth, this charming town provides the perfect balance of a peaceful lifestyle and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in local health care.
HealthOne Quirindi delivers an integrated primary and community health service, combining Community Health and visiting services to provide coordinated, client-centred care. As part of the AMIHS program, you will work alongside mainstream antenatal services to deliver culturally safe support during pregnancy and the early postnatal period, helping improve health outcomes for Aboriginal families and their babies.

About the Role
The AMIHS Aboriginal Health Worker works in partnership with the AMIHS Midwife to deliver culturally safe, community-based maternal and child health services. This includes:

* Deliver flexible, holistic, and culturally safe care to Aboriginal clients and families
* Support postnatal transitions to Child & Family Health services
* Provide cultural guidance to the multidisciplinary team
* Collaborate with communities and agencies to ensure culturally responsive care
* Use or learn patient record and data systems
* Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
* Travel within the service area as required

This role is supported by the Hunter New England AMIHS network, which provides professional development and ongoing support. Comprehensive orientation will be provided upon commencement.

About You
You are a motivated and enthusiastic Aboriginal Health Worker committed to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal families. You have the ability to work collaboratively, provide cultural guidance, and deliver care in a respectful and inclusive manner.

Essential Criteria:

* Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is accepted by the community, with proof of heritage provided
* Female applicants only (genuine occupational qualification under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977)
* Holds or is working towards a minimum Certificate III in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a relevant health qualification
* Demonstrated knowledge of health issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families
* Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable communities and agencies to provide culturally safe services
* Ability to use a computer or willingness to learn relevant programs
* Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and provide cultural guidance
* Eligible to drive in NSW and able to travel as required
