What you will do as the Senior Investigator
There are multiple Senior Investigators positions available in the 3 branches of the Competiton Division: Competition Enforcement and Advocacy; Competition Enforcement, Coordination and Strategy; and the Competition Enforcement and Cartels Branch.
- Working individually, and with others, to identify, research and analyse relevant information, to draw evidence-based conclusions on complex competition issues, and make recommendations about next steps.
- Preparing high quality documents including papers, legal notices, voluntary and compulsory information requests, correspondence, reports, and briefs.
- Interviewing witnesses, complainants and/or market participants.
- Interpreting and applying legislation, policies, and procedures.
About You
In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
- a qualification in investigations, law, economics, commerce, or similar fields.
- an ability to work flexibly and effectively in a team during times of uncertainty and high pressure.
- demonstrated robust written and verbal communication skills.
- experience conducting complex investigations or managing complex projects.
- demonstrated experience leading an investigating team or similar role in a fast-paced and large complex people-centred organisation.
The Following Job Specific Criteria Are Also Highly Desirable
- A sound general knowledge of the ACCC’s role, purpose and objectives, together with detailed understanding (or the ability to attain such understanding quickly) of the competition provisions of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and related legislation.
- At least 2-3 years’ relevant work experience after graduating from relevant undergraduate tertiary qualifications.
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations. If not already obtained, successful candidates will be expected to obtain this qualification within 6 months of commencing a Senior Investigator role.
