About the Role
As a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic at Whelans, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles, plant, and equipment. You'll work alongside a dedicated team to ensure our machinery operates at peak performance, supporting the delivery of high-quality, efficient services across our projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy vehicles and plant equipment
* Conduct minor servicing tasks including fuelling, tyre changes, fluid checks, and greasing
* Maintain accurate service records and complete workshop documentation
* Contribute to workshop cleanliness and safety standards
* Collaborate with the Workshop Manager and team to prioritise and complete tasks efficiently
* Respond to breakdowns and carry out on-site repairs when required
What We're Looking For
* Trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanics (Certificate III or equivalent)
* 3 years' post apprenticeship experience working as a Mechanic
* Valid car and/or heavy vehicle driver's licence
* Proven experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy plant equipment
* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
* A commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
* Basic computer literacy for digital work orders and service records
