Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

New teachers are provided with intensive, specific training and induction to develop skills and understanding of DLD and how best to meet the needs of the students. This support is ongoing and provided by mentor teachers, collaborative partners, and speech pathologists.

Role

Suitable applicants will need to develop and support the implementation of specialised language programmes for students with identified speech and language difficulties.

In addition to the specialised language programmes, suitable applicants will ideally display their ability to build the capacity of teachers, education assistants and parents. They will ideally support the strategic direction of the school through remaining abreast of current research and proactively distributing information through parent programmes and professional learning opportunities for staff. The Speech and Language Specialists provide input to the development of school‐based policy and plans in relation to the school's language programme.
