Job Description:
The Senior Counsellor role provides therapeutic recovery counselling to support women, girls, and gender-diverse people across Queensland. This role is based at Wellspring Women and Girls Health Hub, an initiative of Micah Projects funded as part of the Queensland Women and Girl's Health Strategy.
The Senior Counsellor will deliver trauma-informed and person-centred counselling for women, girls, and gender-diverse people via face-to-face, phone, and video. They will assess participants' health and wellbeing needs, develop, monitor, and review individualised care plans, provide warm referrals to external organisations, undertake risk assessments and safety planning with participants, and lead transformative impacts by addressing root causes of gender disparities and health inequities for women.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Qualified and experienced: Bachelor or postgraduate degree in counselling, social work, or similar with at least 5 years' experience in the field.
* Person-centred practitioner committed to best practice: Demonstrated ability to work with participants in trauma-informed, culturally safe, and gender-responsive counselling practice.
* Ability to work inclusively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other priority groups, including rural and remote communities, people living with a disability, CALD, LGBTIAQ+, and people in contact with the justice system.
