Within this, Professional Services is a core strategic growth segment. This role focuses on deepening relationships with leading law, accounting and consulting firms, accelerating new-to-bank client acquisition and enabling high-quality proprietary flow into Commonwealth Private, playing a critical role in how we partner with the Professional Services ecosystem.

Position Specific Responsibilities

The State Lead – Professional Services NSW is accountable for delivering business development excellence across the segment. Reporting to a National Leader, you will role model best-practice business development, execute strategy, and drive scalable growth through high-quality, mutually beneficial partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth

* Build and execute a structured business development plan across priority Professional Services firms in NSW, aligned to national strategy.
* Deepen senior-level relationships with top-tier law, accounting and consulting firms to generate high-quality proprietary client flow.
* Create, manage, and convert a robust pipeline of prospective client and partnership opportunities.
* Identify emerging opportunities within firms and collaborate with bankers and lenders to deliver differentiated, high-value client outcomes.

Relationship Development & Market Coverage

* Establish deep, repeatable engagement rhythms with priority firms, ensuring consistent coverage and maintaining long-term, mutually beneficial relationships.
* Represent the Commonwealth Bank in market-facing activities, strengthening brand presence and reinforcing segment leadership.

Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy

* Champion the Commonwealth Private value proposition across internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear articulation of value and consistent market presence
* Partner closely with state and national leadership to shape and align market activity with the broader Professional Services strategy.

Risk, Conduct & Operating Discipline

* Exercise sound judgement in balancing growth opportunities with risk management and compliance obligations.
* Maintain clear documentation, reporting, and insights to support state and national planning.
* Role model CBA values and leadership principles, contributing to a culture of responsible growth and operational excellence.

Success Measures

* Volume, quality, and conversion of New-to-bank proprietary lending growth and Private Wealth delivered to the Private Banking team.
* Depth and strength of relationships across major Professional Services firms in NSW.
* Effectiveness of advocacy and collaboration across internal CBA stakeholders.
* Contribution to state and national strategic priorities through scalable business development practices.

What We're Looking For

* Exceptional interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate credibly at senior partner and executive level.
* Highly developed communication and presentation skills, with confidence representing the organisation in market-facing environments
* Demonstrated success in senior business development roles within financial services or professional services environments.
* Strong track record of prospecting, establishing, and growing strategic partnerships that deliver material and sustainable business outcomes.
* Ability to operate effectively within complex, matrixed organisations, collaborating across multiple teams and stakeholder groups
* Solid lending and credit knowledge, with the capability to identify and deliver holistic banking and wealth solutions for clients.
* Strategic mindset with strong execution discipline and commercial acumen.
* Relevant financial services experience and/or tertiary qualifications in business, finance, economics, or marketing.
