The Role
This APS6 HR Advisor role sits within the People Branch of a small, national Commonwealth agency providing important services to the Australian community.

This position will support a busy HR team across employee relations, payroll coordination, HR reporting and general HR advisory work. The role is suited to an experienced APS HR professional who is confident interpreting legislation, policies and procedures, and providing practical, technical and sometimes sensitive advice to employees, managers and senior leaders.

The APS6 will be expected to work with a higher level of independence, exercise sound judgement, manage competing priorities and support more complex HR matters across the branch.

This role may be offered as an ongoing, non-ongoing or temporary transfer opportunity.

Some of your duties may include:

* analysing, interpreting and applying relevant legislation, policies and procedures
* providing technical, complex and sensitive HR advice to employees, managers and senior leaders
* supporting the Employee Relations and Workplace Relations leadership team
* assisting with fortnightly pay processes to support high-quality payroll delivery
* supporting contract management activities relating to the payroll service provider
* preparing HR reporting, including the use of Microsoft Excel
* assisting with the management of the HR inbox and responding to employee queries.
To be considered for this role, you will bring:
* existing HR experience within the APS
* the ability to interpret and apply employment legislation, enterprise agreements, policies and procedures
* strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear HR advice
* strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
* confidence using Microsoft Excel and HR systems or reporting tools

Eligibility
Australian citizenship is required. A current Baseline security clearance is also required.
