We are looking for an Operations Engineer for our client in the telecommunications space for a 6-month contract opportunity based in Adelaide, South Australia.
About the Role
This role will focus on providing high-quality technical and operational support for customer infrastructure and subscriber technologies supplied by the client, and to provide technical excellence and leadership to others.
Responsibilities
* Primarily responsible for the overall technical operation and maintenance of systems and subsystems of the P25 systems across Australia and New Zealand.
* Ongoing high-end technical, engineering and upgrade support for main systems and subsystems used on the P25 Voice and Flex Paging Sub-Networks, including Microwave and BackBone Inter-Site Link System, Core systems and Remote Sites, Console Dispatch System, Voice/Telephony Logging Systems associated LAN/WANs, external interfaces and Network Management Systems.
* Acting as a technical escalation point for Network Operations Control Centre staff and Field Engineers requiring technical assistance.
* Providing technical user support and customer service via phone and in person.
* Participating in a regular on-call roster for after-hours call-out to resolve urgent system problems.
* Supporting after-hours planned maintenance and system upgrade activities.
* Logging and updating all Help Desk tickets using incident tracking software.
* Producing and updating "as-built" documentation for directly supported systems, as required.
* Conducting network testing, integration and certification.
* Being responsible for the ongoing reporting functions in relation to KPIs and SLAs.
* Mentoring junior technical staff.
* Working with System Integration and Engineering staff from time to time for assistance with project activities, as required.
Key Requirements
* Must have a Baseline Security Clearance.
* 3+ years of experience in an Engineer or equivalent role implementing and supporting radio communication systems.
* Tertiary Qualifications in Electronics / Computer Systems Engineering or similar (or extensive industry experience).
* Technical knowledge and experience with implementation and/or support of RF and multi-site communications systems.
* Experience with IT network design, planning and analysis.
* Experience with administration configuration, fault finding and maintenance of networks, LAN, WAN, routers, switches, servers, workstations and applications.
* Strong interpersonal skills in interfacing with customers, staff, management and vendors.
Highly Desirable
* Experience with public safety grade encryption systems configuration, implementation and operation.
* Network security skills including intrusion detection devices firewalls and anti-virus.
* Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server.
* Cisco, Juniper, Hyper‐V and VMWare experience.
* Server maintenance skills – hardware and software.
* Microwave Transmission Network Experience.
* Telecommunications, Land Mobile Radio (LMR).
* ITIL Foundation Certificate.
* Knowledge in Crystal reporting and SQL database.
