About the Role
The City of Wanneroo is seeking qualified, experienced truck mechanics with On Highway expertise to undertake all aspects of repairs and maintenance of the City's fleet assets. The working environment includes a clean modern workshop with specialised tooling, pits, cranes, good facilities, showers, secure parking and a small friendly team. The mechanics maintain a modern fleet with Volvo, Hino, UD and Isuzu trucks amongst others. The truck fleet also includes waste collection vehicles, tippers and trailers. Other assets to be maintained include light plant and Komatsu, Case and Bobcat construction equipment. The ideal applicant will be required to work on a combination of machines or equipment which utilise complex electronic, mechanical, Air and Hydraulic systems.
Our team operates onsite as well as attending to breakdown call-outs and works a weekly rotating shift pattern of 6:00am to 3:00pm (week 1) and 1:00pm to 10:00pm (week 2) Monday to Friday on a nine-day fortnight.
About You
As a collaborative member of the Fleet Maintenance team, the position is accountable for repairs and maintenance to the City's fleet assets in accordance with current best practice, standards and statutory requirements. As the successful appointee you must be an adaptable and experienced truck mechanic or heavy-duty or diesel mechanic.
To be successful in the position, you will be able to demonstrate the following through your cover letter and resume:
* Trade Certificate in Truck Mechanics or Heavy Duty Mechanics. (On Highway preferred)
* Post-trade experience in Heavy Duty equipment servicing / repairs, particularly multi-functional hydraulic systems. (preferred)
* Knowledge of Australian Design Regulations and Standards, licensing procedures and statutory provisions relevant to heavy vehicles.
* Highly developed knowledge of the practical application of Work, Health and Safety relevant to mechanical workshops.
* Ability to work with limited supervision as part of a team.
* Capable of physical manual labour.
* Good communication skills.
* HR class vehicle licence. (WA issue preferred)
* High Risk Work Licence – Fork lift truck. (preferred)
* Working knowledge of the utilisation of information systems and technology.
