The Role
We are currently seeking applications from qualified and highly experience safety professionals to join us in the position of HSE Manager.
As HSE Manager, you will be responsible for the management of HSE representatives whilst providing health, safety and environmental advice, support and guidance ensuring the implementation and compliance of HSE policies, systems and frameworks to meet legislative requirements and contribute to the health and safety and wellbeing of all Catalpa employees and contractors. You will also be responsible for:
Developing and implementing HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and National regulations as well as construction industry standards
Standardise company HSE policies, procedures and processes across all projects wherever appropriate and applicable
Conducting regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions to mitigate safety and environmental risks
Leading incident investigations (ICAM), root cause analyses, and developing action plans to prevent recurrence of accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents
Providing HSE training and education to employees, contractors, and other stakeholders to increase awareness and promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate HSE considerations into all aspects of operations, including project planning, design, procurement, and execution
Managing and coordinating injury management and return-to-work programs
Liaising with medical professionals, employees, and insurance providers to ensure effective injury management and rehabilitation
Developing, implementing, monitoring and analysing HSE performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of risk, and develop strategies to address them.
Serving as a liaison with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and community stakeholders on HSE- related matters
Attending site visits to all Projects / locations on a regular basis
About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have experience working on remote project sites within the construction and mining industries, along with the following skills and attributes:
Tertiary qualifications in WHS, OHS, RTW, ICAM or related field
Minimum 7 years' experience in a similar position at a management level including extensive experience in safety compliance and risk management
Excellent knowledge of statutory environmental and compliance requirements with the ability to provide competent advice on those requirements
Ability to provide professional written and verbal advice to senior level management on technical compliance matters
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the confidence and ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
