What’s the role? As Head of Virtual Sales, you will be accountable for leading the Small Business Virtual Sales team, ensuring excellence in customer experience, sales performance and operational efficiency, aligned to Business & Wealth Division and Group strategy. Reporting to the Managing Director, SME & Small Business, you will own the virtual sales channel for small business customers, with accountability for customer journeys across virtual, digital and branch channels (in partnership with State Managers). This role combines senior leadership, strong governance and risk oversight, and hands‑on execution to drive growth while embedding a strong customer and risk culture. A core requirement of the role is experience leading large or distributed sales teams in regulated environments, with a strong understanding of responsible lending, conduct risk, and compliance obligations. You will play a key role in enabling digital adoption, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring the virtual sales model continues to evolve to meet customer and market needs. What will I be accountable for? Virtual Sales Leadership & Performance Lead and manage the Small Business Virtual Sales function, driving productivity, growth and customer advocacy Building deep customer relationships and ensuring the bank meets all their needs Deliver sales outcomes aligned to Group strategy, policies, frameworks and risk appetite Own customer sales journeys across virtual, digital and branch channels Customer Outcomes & Experience Ensure customer outcomes are delivered in accordance with laws, regulations and internal frameworks Oversee escalation, remediation and complaint management relating to the Virtual Sales team Support increased customer adoption of digital channels and deepening of customer relationships Risk, Governance & Compliance Embed a strong performance and risk culture across the Virtual Sales team Maintain oversight of responsible lending practices and authorised representatives Manage operational, compliance, conduct and financial crime risks within the virtual sales channel Ensure effective issue identification, incident management and regulatory engagement People & Capability Build, lead and engage a high‑performing virtual sales workforce Oversee capability development, performance management, talent and succession planning Implement relevant technology frameworks and ways of working to support scalable delivery Stakeholder & Enterprise Leadership Partner closely with key stakeholders across Business Lending, Risk, Business Transactional Banking. Product, Technology, Digital, Operations and Retail Banking Represent Westpac internally and externally at key forums, partnerships and stakeholder engagements where required What do I need?
