Support Officer, Learning and Teaching – Humanities

Position Type: Fixed Term Full-Time, ending 31st December ****. Salary: $83,283 - $91,103 (G05) + 17% Superannuation. Location: Position Based on Bentley Campus.

Our team is looking for a proactive and organised administrator to join us to provide excellence in learning and teaching support. This role supports the administration and delivery of learning and teaching across the Schools and the Faculty of Business and Law, ensuring the efficient operation of units and courses in all locations, modes of delivery, and study periods. If you are passionate about education and have strong organisational and technical skills, we want to hear from you. This is an on‑campus role, with attendance on campus forming a key part of the position.


Key Responsibilities

* Maintain knowledge of learning and teaching policies, providing guidance and support to academic staff while escalating issues to the Teaching Support Manager as needed.
* Assist Academics in creating unit outlines and ensuring compliance with the Learning Management System, making all necessary resources available to students.
* Communicate effectively with staff to facilitate teaching delivery and provide user guidance on digital systems.
* Monitor and maintain class information, administer course changes, and support the engagement and payment processing for casual academics.
* Track critical university dates and deadlines, ensuring timely communication with staff and directing student inquiries to central services.
* Build strong relationships with learning and teaching academics through consistent feedback and communication.
* Undertake other activities which the incumbent might reasonably be expected to do, consistent with the accountabilities and responsibilities as listed above.


Essential Criteria

* A degree qualification; or a diploma qualification with considerable relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
* Demonstrated ability to provide guidance to others on procedural matters and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills, especially the ability to deal with a wide variety of people with cross‑cultural sensitivity, providing a client‑focused service.
* Demonstrated well‑developed written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate information clearly and professionally.
* Demonstrated ability to organise work activities according to priorities and to multi‑task to ensure deadlines are effectively met.
* Demonstrated ability to show initiative and solve problems arising from non‑standard issues.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
* Demonstrated computer literacy with skills in a wide range of applications including word processing and/or spreadsheet packages and email.


Desirable Criteria

* Experience in a student and/or academic support related position.
* Demonstrated understanding of relevant policies and procedures.
* Proficiency in Curtin's systems, applications and programs, such as Blackboard, Student One and Akari.


Role Requirements

As this is a fixed‑term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role. Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin's satisfaction.
