The Role
There is an opportunity for an experienced Batch Plant Operator to join our growing team at NQ Asphalt. This position will be responsible for operating the main batch plant in Cairns. The ideal candidate will be mechanically minded, has a strong safety focus and show commitment and pride in their work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Daily operation of a variety of batch plants including asphalt and concrete, using industry knowledge to demonstrate consistency.
* Utilise your administrative skills to control relevant documentation.
* Raw materials and supplier management
* Liaise with customers and follow up on inquiries.
* Perform daily maintenance on the machinery ensure the safety and the operational capability of the batch plant.
* Report any incidents or malfunctions effectively and manage solutions.
* Work together with management to deliver on client expectations.
* Develop relationships internally and externally to contribute to the company’s ability to be successful.
Key Requirements:
* Previous experience operating a batch plant (or similar experience)
* Front end loader competency
* First Aid & CPR (Preferred – can be obtain after commencement)
* Understanding of spill response and take safety matters seriously.
* Working at Heights & Confined Spaces (Preferred – can be obtain after commencement)
* Safe Handling Bituminous Materials competency (Preferred)
* Ability to work autonomously or as a part of a team.
* Current driver’s licence and own transport
* Prepare to work safely in the construction industry card (White/Blue Card)
* Be responsible and act in a safe and honest manner.
* Strong understanding of the bitumen and asphalt industry
* Knowledge of asphalt mix design procedures
Due to the nature of our business, the successful applicants will be subject to a pre-employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol screening. NQ Asphalt has the facility to complete work outside the Cairns region, applicants must have the ability to travel for work.
