There is a requirement to evenings in accordance with the roster and, on occasion, on the weekend. There is also a requirement to work across eight Inner West Library locations, with the majority of time spent at one of the branch libraries: Ashfield, Balmain, Leichhardt or Marrickville. The role oversees daily operations at one of Inner West Council’s branch libraries and its neighbouring sites, focusing on service delivery, staff supervision, events, tech, and facility upkeep. Reporting to the Library Operations Manager, the position manages rosters across up to four libraries and provides guidance on collections and community programs. The successful candidate will work directly on the library floor at both branch and neighbourhood locations. Rotations between library branches are expected bi-annually, though this schedule may change based on operational needs. The position ensures effective library service and community engagement across the network. Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications Degree or higher of Library and Information Services recognised by the Australia Library & Information (ALIA) or equivalent or tertiary qualifications in a related discipline with experience to meet essential experience or skills criteria. Demonstrated experience and a successful track record in public libraries at a branch level including information and reference services, collection development, customer service, and library workflows. Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team especially during times of significant change. Demonstrated analytical, reporting and evaluation skills.
