About the Role
As a Maintenance Worker / Plant Operator, you'll play a key role in the upkeep and repair of Council infrastructure. Working under the guidance of the Principal Operations Supervisor and Leading Hand, you'll carry out planned maintenance and respond to day-to-day operational needs across the City. Your work will directly support safe roads, footpaths, signage, and public assets that residents rely on every day.
What You'll Be Doing
* Operate a range of plant, machinery and hand/power tools
* Carry out maintenance works including roads, footpaths, signage and infrastructure
* Follow written and verbal work instructions
* Support general maintenance and gardening tasks as required
* Work safely at all times, following WHS procedures, using PPE, and reporting hazards or incidents
What We're Looking For:
You're practical, reliable and safety-focused, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You take pride in doing things properly and understand the importance of maintaining public infrastructure to a high standard.
Qualifications & Experience
* Current HR licence (HC preferred)
* Relevant experience and/or training in a similar role
* Basic Traffic Management certification
* Plant competency tickets (Roller, Backhoe, Skid Steer, Loader) desirable
* Previous Local Government experience desirable
* Knowledge of WHS regulations
* National Police Certificate (issued within the last 6 months)
