Key Roles and Responsibilities:
* The Inside Counter Sales Representative assists customers by providing quotes and product information while maintaining the company standards of excellent customer service.
* They may handle special orders and advanced pricing, gathering customer's product needs, design specifications, and acting as liaison between the company and the customer.
A comprehensive understanding of sales techniques, building materials, applications, related equipment, and/or construction industry is essential for success in this role.
This position generates sales opportunities through research on client needs, industry competition, and learning the features and benefits of company products. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to provide accurate and complete material take offs of single/multiple family home projects, and to respond to customer inquiries regarding product selection, placement of orders, requests for prices and quotations, complaints, and scheduling of deliveries and installations.
Maintaining stock levels on the sales floor and in the stockroom is also a critical part of this role, along with operating and balancing cash register daily.
Beyond these responsibilities, this role involves analyzing and sizing various lumber products using appropriate software, coordinating purchase and delivery of special products, obtaining information on pricing specifications, uses, and availability.
The Inside Counter Sales Representative will also create accurate and complete invoices, work orders, and sales tickets, and must have strong attention to detail and knowledge of business math.
This role requires a good understanding of inventory control, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program.
Requirements:
* High School Diploma
* 1-2 years of experience in the building material industry

Able to drive and walk throughout yards, plants, and offices.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
Subject to both typical office environment and outside locations with temperature and weather variations.
