We are partnering with a
leading council in South Brisbane
to recruit an experienced
Python Developer
for a
long-term digital and integration transformation program
scheduled to run over the next
24 to 36 months
.
This is a hands-on contract role within a highly capable and collaborative integration team, reporting into the Integration Lead. You will play a key role in designing, building, and optimising Python-based applications and APIs that support critical council platforms, services, and data flows.
This role suits a Python Developer who enjoys working on complex, real-world systems, collaborating closely with stakeholders, and delivering solutions that have meaningful community impact.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications and services
* Build and support RESTful APIs and system integrations
* Work across the full development lifecycle, including testing and deployment
* Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA, and delivery teams
* Maintain and enhance existing systems, improving performance and scalability
* Support production releases and contribute to long-term platform stability
Skills & Experience
* Strong commercial experience developing in
Python
* Experience with Python frameworks such as
FastAPI, Flask, or Django
* Solid understanding of
RESTful API design and integration
* Experience working with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)
* Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices
* Comfortable working in agile delivery environments
* Experience working in government or large enterprise environments is highly regarded
