Location: Mount Gambier
Salary: $122,000 - $132,000 + Super
Bonus Eligibility: Annual bonus structure, eligible April 2027

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for forestry operations? Join our team as the full-time Operations Manager in Mt Gambier (38 hours per week, excluding separately remunerated fire standby over summer) and take the lead in managing plantation establishment, maintenance, silviculture, and fire protection activities—apply now and make your mark.
About the Role: Reporting to the Estate Manager, you will oversee forest management operations, contractor engagement, and ensure compliance with Workplace Health, Safety, Welfare, and Environmental standards. This role offers the opportunity to lead a team, manage budgets, and contribute to the ongoing development of our Forest Management System (FMS).
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and manage forest establishment, maintenance, and silvicultural activities
* Coordinate fire protection and suppression activities
* Engage and manage contractors to achieve high-quality, cost-effective outcomes
* Prepare and manage budgets, ensuring operations align with financial goals
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and safety standards
* Write, update, and manage operational documents and work plans
About You: You are a strong leader with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You have a thorough knowledge of plantation establishment, silviculture, fire management, and workplace safety. You are self-motivated, flexible, and capable of working independently or in a team.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree in Forestry or equivalent operational experience
* Experience in plantation establishment (Pinus radiata preferred), silviculture, and fire management
* Proven ability to manage teams and contractors
* Current Class C Australian driver's licence
* Chemcert certification (or willingness to acquire)
* CFA/CFS industry brigade membership (or willingness to acquire)
