Job Role Overview
The Pathology Courier plays a vital role in delivering quality healthcare services to the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting pathology samples, specimens, blood/blood products, x-rays, vaccines, and clinical waste to and from referring customers.
This position requires strong interpersonal and written communication skills to liaise with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a valid open Australian driver's license, an excellent driving record, and the ability to work various shifts, including rostered weekends and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
* Pick-up and delivery of pathology samples and specimens.
* Transportation of blood/blood products, x-rays, vaccines, and clinical waste.
* Liaising with medical practitioners and the Medical Liaison Officer regarding store orders.
* Maintenance of patient confidentiality and data integrity.
The courier will also be responsible for preparing and delivering reports and stock control in the main laboratory. This role requires the ability to manage up to 30 stops per day and lift and handle equipment up to 10–15 kg. Candidates must have excellent time management skills, physical capability, and the ability to follow instructions and use initiative for decision-making.
