Opportunity

We are looking for an efficient, friendly, and professional Customer Service Officer to join our team at the Kununurra Leisure Centre (KLC) who will contribute to maintaining a welcoming and safe environment while supporting the delivery of quality leisure and fitness services. Acting as the first point of contact for patrons and visitors, the Customer Service Officer will be responsible for managing front‑desk operations including reception, membership enquiries, facility bookings and cash handling.


Responsibilities

* Serve as the first point of contact for all patrons entering the Leisure Centre.
* Provide friendly and professional assistance with general enquiries, memberships, bookings and programmes.
* Process payments, memberships and facility bookings, and reconcile daily takings.
* Maintain accurate records of transactions and customer data in accordance with Shire procedures.
* Monitor the cleanliness and presentation of the front‑of‑house and common areas.
* Support the promotion of leisure centre programmes, activities and events.
* Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
* Report hazards, incidents and maintenance issues promptly to the Facility Manager.
* Assist in administrative and operational duties as required to support overall centre operations.


Qualifications

Relevant qualifications in Business Administration, Sport and Recreation or 2 years equivalent experience, and a current unrestricted WA "C" Class Driver's Licence are essential for this role.


Mode of Employment & Hours of Work

The starting hours are Monday to Thursday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday 8:30 am to 3:00 pm (½ hour lunch break). Hours can be negotiated with a successful candidate to cover peak customer demand periods.

Preference is for a full‑time employee (38 hours per week). The Shire is also willing to consider a job‑share arrangement of two part‑time employees. Part‑time candidates are encouraged to apply.


Duration of Employment

Maximum term 1 year – fulfilled by either one full‑time or two part‑time employees. The position is currently advertised as maximum‑term due to an identified immediate need for a CSO role at the KLC ahead of the scheduled re‑opening of the pool in April 2026. Potential for extension or permanency pending planning outcomes.


Salary and Benefits

Working for SWEK includes the competitive annual salary range indicated at the top of this page (inclusive of allowances and superannuation, dependent on skills and experience), plus the following benefits:
