About The Role
Start your journey with the JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa as a Commis Pastry Chef to help our passionate kitchen team create mouth-watering food for our luxury guests. You will report directly to the Executive Chef and be a key part of a team responsible for high quality product.
Critical Responsibilities
* Communicate any assistance needed during busy periods to the Chef to ensure optimum services
* Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food
* Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish to be served
* Monitor the quantity of food that is prepared and the portions that are served
* Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing
* Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables
* Wash and disinfect kitchen area including tables, tools, knives, and equipment
* Prepare and cook food
* Set‑up, clean and break down workstation
* Preparation and baking of all in‑house cakes, breads & pastries
Successful Candidates will have
* Previous experience in a similar environment will be viewed favorably
* Trade qualification / be a qualified Pastry Chef
* Strong food safety knowledge
* Great communication skills
* Ability to work in a team and autonomously
* Passion for food and aspirations to grow your culinary career
