DescriptionPURPOSE OF THE POSITIONSPCC Teachers have an important responsibility to both teach and minister in their gifts so that children and young people receive an excellent education with holistic foundations, embedded in Christian values, for the whole of life.
This will be done in close collaboration with the school executive and strict compliance with Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, relevant syllabus, policy and procedures, while upholding the mission and values of the College.
ResponsibilitiesSpecific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Pray for students.
Plan, prepare and deliver effective teaching and learning programs which demonstrate:
Clear alignment with Biblical principles and sound doctrine, strong subject knowledge, current educational research, well-developed practice, capacity for student engagement, and consistency with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, relevant NESA syllabus documents, and policy and procedural documents.
Effective collaboration in team planning and/or team teaching.
Support the spiritual, physical, social and emotional well-being and safety of students by developing safe, supportive and mutually respectful relationships in a variety of settings.
Assess and record student progress carefully and appropriately, and provide timely feedback to students, actively engaging them in the learning process.
Report and discuss student progress and performance with parents, the College and other stakeholders as required, in a timely and professional manner.
Use standardised testing data to inform teaching practice to further student outcomes.
Create supportive learning environments that cater for all student learning needs and manage behaviour effectively, in accordance with College policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate student attendance records.
Identify, assess and appropriately manage risks associated with planned learning activities in accordance with College policies and procedures and relevant WHS regulations.
Where possible, ensure that learning can continue if unavoidable absence occurs, by providing appropriate lesson plans for colleagues.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
A committed Christian who is actively involved in their local evangelical Christian church.
Relevant Teaching Qualifications.
A clear and well-articulated understanding of what it means to be a Christian teacher and the role of Christian schooling.
Experience teaching Year 7–12 Mathematics.
Demonstrated ability to use a range of teaching strategies that meet students where they are individually and collectively.
Proven ability to partner effectively with parents in the education and care of their children.
Current Working with Children Check.
Essential Qualities
A mature Christian faith that is overt and allows for discussion and prayer about matters of faith as they relate to the teacher's professional and personal journey.
Able to collaborate effectively in team planning and/or team teaching as collaborative practice is a key approach to teaching and learning in the College.
Able to foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
Commitment to ongoing career development.
Skills and Experiences
Experience teaching Mathematics Extension 1 and 2 is desirable.
