Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Financial Accountant role based in Melbourne, VIC. The Financial Accountant will oversee the accounting function of the business including manage the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining general ledgers, reconciling accounts, monitoring cash flow, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. The role will oversee financial reporting for development projects, assist with cost tracking, and provide timely analysis to support decision-making across property and construction initiatives. The Financial Accountant will also liaise with external auditors, work closely with internal stakeholders on financial queries, and contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.
Qualifications
* Strong expertise in Finance and accounting principles, including experience in the preparation and review of Financial Statements.
* Proficiency with Accounting Software and related financial systems, with the ability to learn new tools quickly and optimize their use.
* Demonstrated Analytical Skills and experience in Financial Reporting, including variance analysis, budgeting support, and project-based reporting.
* Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional accreditation (e.g., CA, CPA) or progress toward it is highly regarded.
* Solid understanding of local accounting standards, tax, and compliance requirements, ideally within property, construction, or real estate sectors.
* Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams on-site.
* High level of integrity, confidentiality, and a proactive approach to process improvement and problem-solving.
