ABOUT THIS ROLE The Network Engineer (NTDS 5) will under broad direction from the Commonwealth will be responsible for a range of activities contributing to the design, build, test and operation of ICT systems and network services to support the delivery of modern mobility solutions for senior government officials. Project activities under the project include expanding the existing network, computing systems, complex gateway services, cloud services, and secure mobility solutions. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the design, build, test and operation of networks services in a multi-vendor environment. Conduct requirement traceability and prioritisation activities, and determine the feasibility of individual requirements in order to support the design of elements of the system. Plan the configuration, implementation, automation and testing of an enterprise gateway environment, adhering to security policy and compliance. Provide assistance in the development, support and management of monitoring systems for networks. Implement, configure, and maintain (including leading change activities), of switches, routers and firewalls in a multi-vendor environment. TECHNICAL SKILLS Experience in the operation and management of a gateway environment. Experience automating networks through Infrastructure as Code. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED NTDS5 - Produces, or approves network providers', network architectures, topologies and configuration databases for own area of responsibility. Specifies design parameters for network connectivity, capacity, speed, interfacing, security and access, in line with business requirements. Assesses network-related risks and specifies recovery routines and contingency procedures. Creates multiple design views to address the different stakeholders' concerns and to handle both functional and non-functional requirements.
