Job Description
This role contributes to sustainable governance and conservation through strategic planning and policy implementation across managed lands.
The successful candidate will require strong attention to detail, strategic thinking, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strategic planning and policy implementation across QPWS&P-managed lands
* Supporting the administration of permits, leases, and authorities under the Nature Conservation Act 1992 and Forestry Act 1959
* Providing technical research, drafting correspondence, including ministerial briefings, to support informed decision-making
* Negotiating tenure matters, such as revocations, acquisitions, trusteeships, and assessing development proposals impacting parks
* Engaging with government departments and land managers on strategic estate and tenure issues
* Advising on Native Title and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve conservation goals
2. Provide expert advice on legislative frameworks and policy requirements
3. Build relationships with stakeholders, including Traditional Owners, government departments, and community groups
Required Skills and Qualifications
We're looking for individuals passionate about conservation and sustainable land management. Your planning skills will be key in managing competing priorities, while your ability to work independently and collaboratively will drive outcomes in a dynamic environment.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders
* Knowledge of, or ability to quickly acquire, legislative frameworks like the Nature Conservation Act 1992 and Forestry Act 1959
* High-level writing skills for drafting correspondence, briefings, and reports
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, for data management and reporting
* Strong problem-solving skills to address complex estate and tenure issues
