About AEMO
AEMO is Australia's independent energy system and market operator and system planner. AEMO's purpose is to ensure safe, reliable and affordable energy today, and enable the energy transition for the benefit of all Australians. Australian governments are now committed to a net zero economy for Australia by 2050 and our vision is to enable this. We have the once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity to co‑design the future of our energy systems, and our core values revolve around character, commitment, and connection.
About the Division and Role
The Victorian Planning and Connections Division is accountable for planning the transmission system, making network investment decisions and connecting new generators and loads in Victoria, while ensuring these investments don't adversely impact the power system as a whole. The department plays a key role in successfully navigating the energy future by determining and procuring investment in the best interest of consumers, and by acting as a trusted advisor for the Victorian Government.
This role will liaise directly with the Victorian Government in providing planning and modelling expertise to support the primary and secondary technical optionality for major transmission network projects and provide technical advice to ensure economic outcomes that deliver safe, secure and reliable supply. This includes independent work, working in collaboration with the Victorian Government and co‑ordination of consultants and contractors as required.
What you will be doing
* Support network investment decisions by attending workshops, developing scopes of work, and providing technical advice on option analysis reports.
* Undertake simulation and analysis of the Victorian transmission network to identify network capability and emerging limitations.
* Conduct power system studies to assess the technical viability of preferred options and identify any additional requirements.
* Interpret simulation outcomes, draw conclusions, and provide clear, evidence‑based recommendations on network adequacy and investment options.
* Review and validate deliverables, providing feedback to support option analysis and planning documentation.
* Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and briefing materials to communicate technical findings to stakeholders.
* Support and mentor team members.
