Your next career opportunity
As a Laboratory Technician in the Pask/TIGRR Lab research group, you'll play a crucial role in supporting innovative avian biology research. You'll have the opportunity to develop advanced laboratory skills, from molecular biology techniques to embryological experiments. Working in a collaborative environment, you'll contribute to groundbreaking studies while enhancing your expertise in a state-of-the-art research facility.
Your responsibilities will include:
3. Support Research Activities: Prepare experimental materials, maintain cell cultures, and assist with molecular biology techniques including plasmid assembly and cloning.
4. Manage Laboratory Operations: Maintain inventory, prepare consumables, and ensure proper storage and disposal of materials in compliance with safety regulations.
5. Assist with Specialised Techniques: Support researchers with protocols such as electroporation and whole mount in situ analysis, and help prepare embryological experiments.
* Ensure Laboratory Safety: Follow and promote proper safety procedures, assist in reviewing risk assessments, and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
You may be a great fit if:
You are a science graduate with a strong understanding of laboratory techniques, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic research environment.
You may also:
6. Hold a degree in Science or Applied Science (BioSciences).
7. Have experience in molecular biology and microbiology techniques.
8. Possess strong organisational and time management skills.
9. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
10. Have experience in maintaining accurate records and using relevant computer software.

Your new team - "School of BioSciences"
The School of BioSciences was formed in 2015 through the amalgamation of the School of Botany and the Departments of Genetics and Zoology thus bringing together a critical mass of 160 Academic staff and 240 Research Higher Degree students undertaking world class teaching and research in the biological sciences. Academics within the School are aligned to 2 research domains - Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and Cells & Systems Biology. Through cross-disciplinary collaborations within the School and with external partners the School is a major recipient of grant and contract funding.
