About the role
This is a Fixed Term Full Time role up to 30 June 2026 based in our Immediate Housing Response Team. Join Anglicare NQ to support your local community.
As part of the Immediate Housing Response (IHR) service within the Housing and Homelessness Stream, this position will increase the availability of long-term housing options by establishing contacts with real estate agents and private landlords; raising awareness of the needs of people experiencing homelessness and the availability of tenancy support; assisting clients to navigate the private rental market and/or explore eligibility for home ownership initiatives such as Help to Buy, Boost to Buy, First Home Buyer, Indigenous Home Ownership Program or Rent to Buy schemes, etc.
Responsibilities
- Establish contacts with real estate agents and private landlords to increase access to long-term housing options.
- Raise awareness of homelessness needs and tenancy support availability among stakeholders.
- Assist clients to navigate the private rental market and explore home ownership initiatives as applicable.
Qualifications and requirements
- Prior experience working in/with real estate agents, landlords, property or tenancy management.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake casework with clients experiencing homelessness requiring long-term housing solutions.
- Sound knowledge of Residential Tenancies legislation, private rental market, housing options and tenancy requirements.
- Understanding of social justice issues related to housing access, homelessness, income support and wellbeing.
- Ability to foster and maintain stakeholder relationships and navigate access to options in a tight housing market.
- Aptitude for administrative tasks, data handling and reporting.
- Strong teamwork and team-oriented practice.
- Experience working with First Nations people, families, organisations and communities.
Compliance
- Evidence of relevant tertiary qualifications in Community/Human Services or Business/Property related field.
- Current Queensland driver’s license (Class C) or interstate equivalent.
- Blue Card (Working with Children).
- Current national Police Check (within the last 3 months).
- Hold or be willing to obtain a current CPR & First Aid certificate.
- Out-of-hours work may be required from time to time.
- May be required to transport clients or visit clients at their residence or other setting.
- Ability to undertake local area/regional travel is required.
