We are seeking a Research Fellow to support Professor Katy Bell conduct health services research, including the NHMRC Investigator grant on sustainable, effective health care: Driving the transition to high-value testing to benefit the health of all and other projects focused on the clinical effectiveness of healthcare. The incumbent will be highly experienced in NHMRC research projects for health systems sustainability. Your key responsibilities will be to: · lead and conduct applied research on health system sustainability, clinical effectiveness, and high‑value care, producing high‑quality outputs such as systematic reviews, mixed‑methods studies, and evidence syntheses · conduct original research independently and collaboratively, with a focus on high-impact publications, conference presentations, and securing competitive research funding · develop and lead trial protocols, peer‑reviewed publications, and qualitative research reports that influence clinical guidelines, contribute to public discourse, and support climate‑resilient health systems · manage research ethics and governance processes, including trial registration, ethics submissions, amendments, and compliance reporting · contribute to national and international initiatives in sustainability, diagnostic stewardship, climate and health, and healthcare quality, including development of indicators, tools, and global resources for clinical trial improvement · support the preparation and submission of competitive grant applications, including MRFF and implementation science funding schemes · engage in translational research that informs policy, improves clinical practice, and supports innovation in the delivery of sustainable and effective healthcare · provide informal mentorship to junior researchers and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive research culture · actively participate in professional networks contributing to the development of global resources for clinical trial improvement About you · a PhD (or near completion) in public health, epidemiology, health services research, clinical epidemiology, biostatistics or a closely related discipline · substantial experience conducting applied research in health systems sustainability, clinical effectiveness, or decarbonisation of healthcare · demonstrated capacity to independently lead research projects, including securing competitive funding, developing protocols, managing ethics and governance processes, and delivering high-quality outputs · a strong publication record commensurate with career stage, including lead or senior author papers, systematic reviews, qualitative studies, and studies influencing clinical guidelines or public discourse · experience delivering research that has measurable translational impact, including development of indicators, tools, resources or evidence syntheses that inform healthcare improvement, climate-resilient health systems, or policy change · demonstrated skills in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, including data analysis (e.g., interrupted time series, linked healthcare data, PBS datasets), survey design and implementation, and mixed‑methods approaches · experience conducting systematic reviews, including screening, full‑text review, risk of bias assessment, evidence synthesis and report development · demonstrated involvement in national or international initiatives related to sustainability, climate and health, diagnostic stewardship, or healthcare quality · experience supervising research assistants, MPH student capstones, and/or PhD candidates, contributing to their methodological development and academic progress · strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, policymakers, academics, consumers, and government or non‑government organisations · strong experience in working with large administrative datasets in healthcare research · advanced epidemiological analytical skills, including causal inference of observational data · an emerging leader in public health and health services research and has achieved international recognition for achievements.
